Clarissa

Female Β· Young Β· 1 year

Introducing Clarissa - Our beautiful 1 year old German Shepherd! Clarissa came into our care after wandering the streets as stray! Clarissa is such a wonderful dog with so much love and energy to match it. She is a typical Shepherd and would do great in a home that understand the breed and would be happy to put the training and work in that she needs. She does walk really nicely on the lead in quiet surroundings but if she sees another dog she gets a bit excited and can be a little stronger. Clarissa is very dog sociable and loves meeting other dogs and joining them on group walks whenever she can. She is a Can Try to living with other dogs as long as they are well matched and we see them interacting and getting on well with each other. In terms of living requirements with children she is best matched to older children that have lived with or are confident around larger breeds as Clarissa does have a habit of jumping up when she needs reassurance but we are hopeful once she's settled back into a home she will not need as much reassurance as she does at the centre!

About Clarissa

What life with Clarissa looks like

Clarissa is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at RSPCA Danaher Animal Home in Braintree.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clarissa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clarissa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Danaher Animal Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clarissa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clarissa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Danaher Animal Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Clarissa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clarissa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Danaher Animal Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clarissa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
