** Please note the ‘Contact for Availability’ function is currently not working. Please email the Rescue direct () if you are enquiring about an animal and include the animal’s name **Lab Cleo is an absolute sweetheart and is a real people-lover. She loves everyone she meets and has previously lived with children, so she could make a wonderful family dog for the right home. She is an active girl who loves nothing more than getting out and about for walks and adventures. She walks well on a Halti and would love an active family who will give her plenty of opportunities to explore and have fun. Cleo LOVES her toys and a good game of fetch! She is great with other dogs and is dog social, so introductions with a resident dog can be arranged here at the Rescue to make sure everyone is happy. Cleo can live with confident cats with the correct introductions and management. Once she is settled into her new home, Cleo can be left for sensible periods of time. She also travels well in the car, making her the perfect companion for those days out and adventures. Cleo is a loyal, loving and fun girl who has so much to offer her new family. We think she is going to make someone a very special companion. 💗 If you are interested in Cleo, please contact us directly. We will first ask you to complete our pre-adoption questionnaire so we can find out more about you, your home and your lifestyle. We carry out virtual home checks, which include photos/videos of your downstairs living space and garden, showing that the garden is fully secure. We also require two forms of ID – a recent utility bill and photographic ID. If everything is suitable, we will arrange an appointment for you to come and meet Cleo at the Rescue. Any resident dog will need to come along for introductions, and you will be required to walk Cleo during your visit. Please remember that submitting an application does not guarantee an adoption, as our priority is always finding the right match for both the dog and their new family. Cleo’s adoption fee is £250, which includes her neutering, vaccinations, microchip, flea and worm treatment and full veterinary health check. Our adopted animals come with our lifetime rescue back-up. About Cleo

What life with Cleo looks like

Cleo is a young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cleo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
