Cleo und Abby

Female · Young · 2 years

Cleo and Abby are looking for their forever home. We are both dwarf rabbits and are very close, so we would like to stay together. Unfortunately, Cleo is a tooth rabbit, which means her teeth need to be corrected under anesthesia regularly. This is very expensive, but we still have a chance to get a great home, so the shelter will cover the costs. We need at least 6 square meters of space on one level and good food. If you have the perfect place for us and want to meet us, please contact us by email. We are waiting for you, hopefully soon. Your Cleo and Abby. Please read the adoption criteria on our website beforehand: Adoption Criteria - Tierschutzverein Wetzlar und Umgebung e.V. (tierheim-wetzlar.de) Animal species: Rabbit. Breed: Dwarf rabbit. Born on: Cleo: 17.06.2024, Abby: 01.07.2024. Color: Brown and black. Gender: Female. At the shelter since: 08.09.2026. Reason for relinquishment: Relinquished animals. Adoption status: Adoptable. About Cleo und Abby

What life with Cleo und Abby looks like

Cleo und Abby is a young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Wetzlar in Wetzlar.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleo und Abby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleo und Abby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wetzlar handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleo und Abby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleo und Abby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wetzlar will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cleo und Abby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleo und Abby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wetzlar early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleo und Abby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
