Adopt Clifford

Male · Young · 1 year

When you hear the name Clifford, you often think of the series "_Clifford – the big red dog," where the girl Emily rescues a red puppy that grows to an enormous size overnight. Don't worry: in our case, that won't happen. The cute puppy will probably grow into a medium-sized handsome fellow. But like his namesake, Clifford needs a human heart that opens up for him and guides him into a beautiful dog life. At the moment, the little rascal is waiting in a Romanian foster home under rather cramped conditions. He's already doing a pretty good job with leash walking. The other lessons of the puppy ABC, Clifford will surely learn patiently and diligently, but the pubertal phase is still ahead. During this important life stage, the hormone balance completely changes, which means that already learned commands can be forgotten. Also, fur bumps can show up during puberty, and here, patience and perseverance should be at the top of the list. And once this phase is over, Clifford will likely be a great companion. The little fluffball will be described as very friendly, affectionate, and playful. Everything around him is exciting and needs to be sniffed. An forever home in the countryside with a house and garden would be ideal for Clifford, because he will still need a lot of movement and space to be happy in the coming years. Also, plenty of cuddle sessions will make him infinitely happy, because the mouse needs a lot of affection – not uncommon among strays. Whether he gets along well with his fellow animals, including Samtpfoten, we can't say at the moment. Clifford also has a positive EU pet passport. A foster home would of course also be a great joy for the little guy. Do you want to give our brown-furred heartbreaker with the white-pawed tips the longed-for ticket to happiness and protect and accompany him for life? His little suitcase is already packed. This dog will be rehomed together with the association Ein Herz für Streuner e. V. The double posting on both association sides and possibly in advertising portals serves to increase his visibility and find the right home for him faster. With the association, there is a close exchange. Every request for the dog is directly discussed and passed on. We will take care of the processing as soon as possible!. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

About Clifford

What life with Clifford looks like

Clifford is a extra-large young adult dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clifford, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clifford?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clifford on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clifford if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clifford already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clifford isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clifford and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
