Clotilda

Unknown · Adult · 5 years

There is a sweetness in Clotilda's eyes that is unforgettable. One that tells everything, even without words. Clotilda is a delightful mixed-breed dog, small to medium sized (13 kg), probably born in November 2021. Her life took an unfair turn when, in November 2024, she was abandoned and locked up in a dog shelter. Yet she has not lost her trust. On the contrary, every day she shows how big her heart is: she is sociable, affectionate, always looking for a gaze, a caress, some love. She loves human contact in a pure, sincere, almost moving way. With other dogs she is good and calm, while she is not compatible with cats. Outside the crate she transforms: curious, lively, with her hound's nose guiding her in the discovery of the world. She really likes walks, and although she still needs some practice with the leash, she does her best to learn. Clotilda tested slightly positive for leishmaniasis (low and questionable titer), but has already undergone the necessary treatments and is doing well today. It is a controlled condition that only requires periodic check-ups. We will be happy to provide all the information regarding it. Clotilda is not just looking for a home. She is looking for someone who looks at her and sees how much love she has to give. Someone who makes her forget the dog shelter and finally gives her a life full of cuddles, walks, and peace. If you feel you could be that person... ask us about her. Clotilda is already waiting for you. She is located in a private affiliated dog shelter in the province of Rome, but we also place her in the north after the necessary pre-adoption home checks, spayed, vaccinated, with a complete health record including blood tests and treatments performed, and obviously with a microchip.

About Clotilda

What life with Clotilda looks like

Clotilda is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Associazione ALFA in Roma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clotilda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clotilda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione ALFA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clotilda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clotilda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione ALFA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clotilda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clotilda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione ALFA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clotilda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
