adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Coby has found a home! His story: Killing stations – places of despair. For many dogs, that marks the end of all hope. They wait for rescue, for love – and if no one comes, only silence remains. But sometimes there is a small miracle: A dog gets a second chance. So with Coby. Coby is a real heartbreaker – with fluffy fur, a calm nature, and a deep need for closeness. Eight and a half years old and full of life, he longs for a home where he can belong. Not young, but wise. Not loud, but full of warmth. His loving nature makes him a true treasure for people who want to give security. With a shoulder height of about 61 cm and a weight of 27 kg, he is stately without being intrusive. His gentle gaze and floppy ears tell of a past that left its mark – but his heart is open. His teeth bear the marks of that time, but they do not currently cause him any problems. Coby loves walks on a leash, is attentive, and learns quickly. When there are treats, he really comes alive. A home with structure, patience, and love will help him gain trust at his own pace. He gets along well with other dogs, but can sometimes be jealous when it comes to attention. A place as a single prince or with a confident canine companion would be ideal. Whether he likes cats is not known. Parts of a Mioritic Herder could explain his loving, balanced nature and his need for rural peace. A home in the green, with loving people who see and understand him, would be his greatest happiness. After a positive If your heart is now beating faster and you feel that Coby is your soul dog, then give him a home. Many thanks, Daniela Sch., for naming Coby. A big thank you also goes to Ramona E., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Coby. As of: 22.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 22.06.2025

About Coby

What life with Coby looks like

Coby is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
