Adopt Coca

Mixed Breed · Female

compatibility with others: Gets along well with other animals; cats: Not known, can be tested. Origin: animal shelter Pirot (Serbia) Current location: foster home in Nuremberg Coca is a still rather insecure female dog. She is warming up gradually. For now, she can also relax and sleep during the day in her familiar environment. However, she can only do this in her familiar surroundings. When around strangers, the situation looks a bit different; she is still quite afraid at times. It is important to give her stability and calmness. Show her that the other person is okay. Once she is on walks in the forest or on fields, this insecurity fades away. She feels very comfortable there, walks calmly along, and enjoys wagging her tail while sniffing the grass. One can clearly see how happy she is in nature. Coca would be ideal for a quiet household where long nature walks with her are made. She gets along well with the dogs in the foster home. During dog encounters, she behaves rather calmly. Coca definitely needs a quiet family. In a household with small children, it would be too stressful for her. Coca can stay alone at home and would also be suitable as a second dog. On walks, she likes to run and play with familiar fellow animals. Once Coca has built trust with her people – which certainly requires some time at the beginning – she is very clingy and enjoys cuddles and the shared time. She is a great female dog who deserves a chance at a home. Almost her entire life, she had to spend in the animal shelter in Serbia behind bars. After agreement, Coca can be introduced to the foster home.

About Coca

What life with Coca looks like

Coca is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. in Leichlingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coca, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coca?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coca on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coca if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coca already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coca isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coca and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
