Coco

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 5 years

In 2024, Coco moved to the Netherlands from Spain with his owner. Together, they’ve lived at several different addresses. For a tomcat who hasn’t been properly socialized, these were a lot of stimuli all at once. When Coco’s owner started living with someone else, Coco became even more insecure and stressed, often reacting unpredictably and aggressively. Coco was no longer happy here. At the Animal’s Faith foundation, Coco initially found it very scary to be cared for by people he didn’t know. But we’re noticing that he’s gradually getting used to it. For a week, he stayed in a group with several other cats, where he also had access to an outdoor enclosure. Coco had a really hard time finding his place within the group; he would hiss a lot and preferred to avoid everyone altogether. In a different room with just one uncertain cat, he immediately felt much more comfortable. We now see a cheerful tomcat who both seeks and gives attention. And Coco loves to play—though he plays by his own rules. The fearful Coco is looking for a home where he can finally relax. Coco wants to be loving, but fear often takes over. Coco visibly enjoys spending time in the outdoor enclosure; that’s where he really unwinds. So at his new home, it’s essential that he has regular access to the outdoors. About Coco

What life with Coco looks like

Coco is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Stichting Animals Faith in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Animals Faith handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Animals Faith will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Animals Faith early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
