Cody

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Cody, a twelve-year-old Bodeguero, has left the Spanish animal shelter and is now in a foster home in Germany. He quickly shows himself to be a lovable dog. For his age, the senior is still quite mobile. The proximity to his caregivers is very important to him. Cody loves to cuddle and be with them. It is likely that Cody had a home in Spain before he came to the shelter. He is housebroken and adapts relatively quickly to everyday life. Cody can still run up and down the stairs in the house. However, this may change with increasing age. Cody barks very rarely and is generally a quiet companion. He behaves calmly while driving. On dog walks, the male runs well on a leash. When encountering other dogs, Cody largely ignores them. If he finds a fellow dog annoying, he growls briefly and then walks on. Cody is a dog treasure that belongs in caring hands. He would be willing to take up his "forever bed". Therefore, we are looking for a permanent home for Cody. This should enable the dog senior a cozy old age. Cody does not need much fuss around him. Even if he is still lively, all activities should be adapted to his performance. Since human closeness and attention are paramount for Cody, he would prefer to be the only prince in his future home. But it would also be possible for him to live with other socially compatible dogs. However, in this case, feeding should be done separately. Treats should not be fed together with other dogs. If your heart beats for the older dogs and you have the necessary resources to do justice to an old dog, then we are looking forward to your inquiry. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack with past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to settle into their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Cody, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Hundehilfe. The contact details can be found below. Here is Cody's video.

About Cody

What life with Cody looks like

Cody is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cody, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cody?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cody on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cody if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cody already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cody isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cody and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
