Coffee

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Coffee German Shepherd-Husky-Mix male dog. He is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Coffee is not a dog for beginners. He has his own mind, and working with him (and on him) is necessary. He is very suspicious of strangers and takes a long time to build trust. Once he has built trust, however, he becomes a good friend and a cuddly companion (he also likes to be on the couch sometimes). Coffee also has a strong control drive; he wants to control everything and is always curious. When he came from the farm, he could do whatever he wanted, and that is still in him – he likes to roam around everywhere. However, during daily walks, Coffee listens quite well. Coffee would do anything for food – with his trusted people, he obeys at the drop of a hat. However, this also has a downside: when we took him in, he showed a strong food aggression. Toys and food were fiercely defended with all means. With trusted people he trusts, he now gives out food and toys, albeit sometimes with grudgingly. Generally, he gets along well with other dogs – still, this should be tested beforehand. Coffee does not enjoy car rides; they cause him nausea and vomiting. Coffee needs a strong hand and owners with experience in dealing with difficult dogs. However, Coffee should not be around children. Keeping him in the house and constantly sending him to his place because a child is running through the house is not right for him. A large yard would be best, where he can do what he wants. If interested, please contact us at the animal shelter: 02642 / 21600. Come by and get to know Coffee.

DE·Show original

About Coffee

What life with Coffee looks like

Coffee is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coffee, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coffee?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coffee on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coffee if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coffee already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coffee isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coffee and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
