Coke

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Coke Staff Mix Born: 01.05.2024 microchipped, vaccinated, must be neutered or undergo a vasectomy Short description: Coke – Young, wild, full of life, and a daredevil. Not only was Coke kept illegally, but the living conditions were also more or less a complete disaster. Therefore, the authorities rightly intervened and took the dog into custody. We have placed Coke in one of our foster homes, where he lives with a female dog and horses, enjoying this family life. The handsome boy has never learned anything; he was just locked away. Now, we are slowly, very slowly, working on his separation anxiety. Coke cannot be left alone; he cries and destroys everything when his people leave. When he is with them, he is the happiest and most loving dog in the world. With his four-legged friend around, everything is easier to bear. He is a very playful and friendly dog, very attentive, eager to please, and shows how much he enjoys everything, something he had never known before. Coke is a very athletic dog who absolutely needs and wants to be encouraged. Learning to calm down and stay alone is currently on the schedule for Coke. He finds cats utterly stupid and horses too big, treating them with great respect but also very kindly. Older children are perfect, and small children are great, but he may playfully box them. All of this is not out of malice but simply like a wild teenager. Coke is a chaotic but incredibly lovable chaos. We are looking for a family for this treasure, who is aware of all this. Ideally, with a nice female dog and steady children. As we often receive inquiries, we would like to point out that our dogs are in foster homes across the country, and it may happen that you get to know the German Autobahn when you find your dream dog. We do not place dogs abroad. Dear Sabrina, many, many thanks for the enchanting pictures: If interested, please fill out our form:

About Coke

What life with Coke looks like

Coke is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Listenhunde Nothilfe in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Listenhunde Nothilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Listenhunde Nothilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Listenhunde Nothilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
