Adopt Comete

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten · 11 months

Comete is a 11-month-old kitten. She came to us as a stray. Comete does not yet fully trust people. We can pet her a bit but she still hisses and is not yet brave enough to come out. However, we believe that our lovely girl will bloom completely in a home situation. She can be placed with an existing cat. She is not placed with children. Comete is looking for a place as an INDOOR CAT! Who can give her a warm home? If you are interested, you can send us an email with detailed answers to the accompanying questionnaire. Emails without answers will not be replied to. Visiting spontaneously is not possible. Please do not call. We would like to know first about your home and work situation. - Are there children present? If yes, how old? - Are there dogs present? - Are there other pets present? - What type of housing do you have? Do you rent or is it your own home? - Do you have experience with cats? If yes, what happened with the previous cats? - Where will the kitten sleep? Where will the kitten live? - Where will the cat be during the day / during your absence, indoors or outdoors?

About Comete

What life with Comete looks like

Comete is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Comete, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Comete?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Comete on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Comete if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Comete already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Comete isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Comete and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
