Conrad

Mixed Breed · Male

Conrad, a beautiful long-haired cat, arrived at our shelter in early August as a stray. At first glance, it's clear that Conrad has had a tough life. He may have been living outdoors and fending for himself his whole life, as an unneutered tom, until he was finally found by attentive garden owners and brought to us. As a result, Conrad is currently shy, but not timid. We are confident that if we find a caring and patient family for the handsome long-haired cat, who gives him time to adjust and build trust, he will warm up and enjoy life with us humans. Of course, after his adjustment period, he should also be given the opportunity to go outside again, as he is used to nothing else. It is currently uncertain whether Conrad gets along with other cats, as he hides in his cat room and therefore avoids the other cats. Please note: The animal descriptions are based on observations in the shelter or on information from third parties and do not represent guaranteed characteristics. The behavior in a family environment may therefore differ from the descriptions.

About Conrad

What life with Conrad looks like

Conrad is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Zwickau in Zwickau.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Conrad, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Conrad?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Zwickau handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Conrad on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Conrad if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Zwickau will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Conrad already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Conrad isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Zwickau early rather than rehoming privately; they know Conrad and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
