Cooper: small, mischievous and full of life Hello, I'm Cooper! A really cute, lively and energetic young dog from Romania. I don't know anything, can't do anything - but I want to learn so much! Well, if that's not a good start! After our long journey to the animal shelter, my buddy Charlie and I were pretty winded on the first day. We found everything a bit dull and barked and growled a lot. But the shelter manager quickly figured us out and came into our kennel. And you know what? We didn't want to be alone after all! So we promised her that we would show our best side in the next few days. Well, what can I say? Promises are promises - and we kept our word! We're now happy to see our new caregivers. So much time must be available! Now about me: I'm really small. How much more there is in length, width and height is currently unclear. But one thing is certain: when it comes to energy and joie de vivre, I'm already a giant! As a young dog, I'm a little restless and always up for an adventure. I'm particularly excited about zippers - especially when I suspect there's food behind them. I know that's not what you're supposed to do. But hey, I have to learn the dog's multiplication table first. After all, I can't know everything that a real family dog has to do. I'm ready for almost any misdeed if the payoff is right: a few tasty rewards here, a decent portion of cuddles - and I'm already there with fire in my belly! Want to meet a little whirlwind with a big heart? Then come visit me at the animal shelter! Admittedly, there's a lot of barking at the outside kennel. I really enjoy that - hihi! But please don't take my word for it. Behind my big mouth is mainly a young dog who wants to discover a lot and needs people who show him the world with patience, love and humor. I'm ready for my next big adventure. All that's missing are my people. Are you maybe? Your Cooper Animal adoptions are currently by appointment only. Tja, was soll ich sagen?

About Cooper

What life with Cooper looks like

Cooper is an extra-large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cooper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cooper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cooper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cooper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Cooper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cooper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cooper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
