Copernica

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Gender: female Age: born around March 2020 (approximate date) Size: medium (19.8 kg as of early April 2023) Date of arrival at the shelter: April 2023 Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Compatibility: okay with dogs, okay with cats Temperament: May 25, 2026: Copette underwent surgery on Thursday; the procedure went very well. She’s incredibly brave and truly sweet—she had to be handled several times, yet she never showed the slightest bit of aggression, even though this must have been very stressful for her. The hardest part for her, however, seemed to be wearing an Elizabethan collar—she no longer dared to move and kept crying incessantly. So we bought her an inflatable collar, which is less invasive, and it suits her much better! Whew! She’s a little dog who’s very resilient and does everything she can to adapt despite her fears—she deserves a wonderful family. May 3, 2026: Copernica, also known as Copette or Copinette, is still waiting for her family. I can now put on and take off her harness without any trouble. She’s also fine with car rides. March 13, 2026: Two months with no news—and during that time, Copette has made a lot of progress. She’s now fully integrated into our life, our routines, our rhythms, etc. She feels completely comfortable throughout the house, just as comfortable on the sofa or in bed. She now greets us and celebrates us in her own special way. For example, when I get up in the morning, she comes running toward me wagging her tail and waits for petting. She really loves being petted now—there’s no doubt about it. We can tell she’s much more confident and relaxed. She’s even gained confidence on walks and doesn’t hesitate to bark and spin around excitedly if we’re not moving fast enough for her at the start of the walk. She’s truly a delightful little dog to live with. She’s totally fine with cats. January 11, 2026: Copernica has evolved a lot in just one month: we can now easily put the leash on her. At one point, I had to take off and put back on her harness because it had completely twisted while she was playing, and although it stressed her out a bit, I managed to do it without too much difficulty. And most importantly... she now lets us pet her! It’s hard to say whether she really enjoys it, but in any case, she’s becoming more and more relaxed, and we can pet her on more and more parts of her body. She’s ready to find her forever family. We’ve had a few interested people, but unfortunately, every time someone seemed like a good match, they didn’t have a dog themselves. December 9, 2025: After just over a month at home, Copernica (Copette to us, lol!) has settled in nicely and gotten used to the household’s rhythms. Walks are a real joy for her—she fully enjoys them (even though she gets very scared if we encounter people, whether alone or with another dog). Putting on the leash is still stressful for her, as is any kind of “handling” (for example, when I need to tighten the straps of her harness). July 10, 2023: A very beautiful, shy little lady who’s afraid of hands but always stays close to us, very curious, rather calm—she’s deeply interested in what we’re doing. She’ll quickly thrive in a suitable family.

About Copernica

What life with Copernica looks like

Copernica is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Remember Me France in France.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Copernica, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Copernica?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Remember Me France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Copernica on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Copernica if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Remember Me France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Copernica already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Copernica isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Remember Me France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Copernica and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
