Adopt Copito de nieve

Maltese · Female · Adult · 6 years

Copito de Nieve - quiet soul seeks patient home Copito de Nieve is a 6-year-old Maltese dog with a moving story. She originally comes from Spain and has been living on a foster home in Germany for some time now. Her name means "Snowflake" - and just as delicate and careful is her nature. Copito is a fearful dog and strongly traumatized. The past has left its marks. At first, she allowed no closeness, but with much patience she has already made great progress: She now allows touches - a huge sign of trust. Walks outside are currently not possible, the outside world makes her very afraid. Copito tolerates people, she would like to be part of a pack, but in her own unique way: quietly, observing and from a distance. She does not impose herself, does not seek active attention, but she enjoys being there and watching the events from a safe distance. A confident, friendly first dog is absolutely necessary for Copito. She strongly relies on him, he gives her security and shows her that the world is not only made of fear. Alone, she would not find her way. For Copito we are looking for a very quiet home: • rural environment • a securely fenced garden • no children • people with lots of patience, calmness and empathy • an existing social dog as a partner Copito doesn't need expectations, but understanding. She may never be a "normal" dog - but she can learn to feel safer, gain trust and arrive at her own pace. Whoever gives her this chance gives not only a dog a home, but a broken soul the opportunity to heal. Contact Copito's adoption officer if you think you are exactly the right person for this dog.

About Copito de nieve

What life with Copito de nieve looks like

Copito de nieve is a large adult maltese dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Copito de nieve, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Copito de nieve?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Copito de nieve on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Copito de nieve if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Copito de nieve already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Copito de nieve isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Copito de nieve and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
