Copper

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Adult · 4 years

Hello, I'm Copper... and I think I'd make a pretty wonderful best friend.A little while ago, I found myself at a vet practice with my friend, waiting for someone to come back for us. Sadly, they never did. Thankfully, the lovely people at the rescue stepped in and promised that one day I'd find a family who would never let me down again.I don't think I'm asking for too much. A comfy bed? Yes please. A nice bowl of tasty food? Even better. And if you happen to have some spare time for fuss and cuddles, I promise I'll be first in the queue.I've been told I'm an absolute sweetheart, and I do try my best to live up to that reputation. One of my favourite hobbies is rolling around with my belly in the air, all snuggled up in my bed, showing everyone just how relaxed and happy I can be. I also love a good snooze, I'm a firm believer that life is better after a nap.I'm a gentle, easy-going boy who enjoys human company and would make someone a lovely companion. I might even be happy to share my new home with another friendly cat. Dogs, though? I think I'd rather give those a miss. I'd also be happy living with older children who understand that us cats sometimes like to communicate in our own quiet ways and know when we need a little space.Really, all I want is a home where I can be loved, well fed, and have a cosy spot to curl up beside my favourite person. In return, I'll offer you plenty of affection, a soothing purr or two, and the joy of watching me perform my world-famous upside-down belly rolls. If you've been looking for a gentle soul to share your home and your heart, I think we might just be the perfect match. About Copper

What life with Copper looks like

Copper is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Copper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Copper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Copper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Copper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Copper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Copper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Copper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
