adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Copper has recently moved into a foster home and shows more and more every day what a lovable and uncomplicated dog lives inside of him. The handsome chocolate brown Labrador mix brings a pleasant mix of calmness, self-assurance, and aloofness and enjoys life by the side of his people very much. In everyday life, Copper is friendly, clingy, and open. He loves going for walks together and is happy about any form of attention. Even brushing him is no problem, and he clearly enjoys the closeness to his people. Already now, he can stay alone for up to three hours and behaves nicely at home. Leash manners still need some work, as Copper currently still likes to pull outside. However, he shows a very willing attitude to learn and is well oriented to his people. When it comes to cats, Copper is curious and interested. With a calm and well-guided introduction, we can certainly imagine a harmonious coexistence. Copper is neither shy nor insecure, but rather sovereign and independent. At the same time, he is very cuddly and enjoys the close contact with his trusted people. With the unneutered dog in the foster home, Copper currently shows dominant behavior, which is why the dogs are currently kept apart. Therefore, we would ideally like a sovereign, neutered male dog or a relaxed female dog who gives him his space and with whom the introduction is calm and patient. In general, we can also imagine Copper as a single dog who can enjoy the attention of his people. Due to his relaxed and friendly nature, Copper probably also fits well with older children or into a quieter office where he can accompany his people. A home in the suburbs or in a more quiet environment would be ideal for him. Since Copper currently still brings a bit of extra weight, his new home should ideally have few stairs to protect his joints. Copper is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated and of course brings his EU pet passport with him. Who will finally give this charming and affectionate male dog his happiness? A big thank you to Ricardo L.! You not only gave Copper a name but also the chance at a new life! As of: 26.05. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 26.05.2026

About Copper

What life with Copper looks like

Copper is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Copper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Copper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Copper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Copper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Copper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Copper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Copper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
