Adopt Cornelia

Mixed Breed Cat · Female

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Cornelia was found severely chilled and with a highly inflamed eye at only a few weeks old. The kitten was not undernourished, it seemed more as though it had either wandered away or been abandoned—perhaps due to its eye condition. If the animal rescuer had not come to the kitten’s aid, Cornelia might have died from the infection or lost its sight in painful stages. The little cat was immediately brought to a clinic where it received medical treatment. Whether Cornelia will retain its full vision in the affected eye will be shown by time. In any case, since her release, the – for her delicate, young age rather large – cat zips around her foster home energetically, full of life and play! Who will give the young kitten (even if a bit late) a protected start in life and take her into a safe haven? Update 26.02.2026 New images, new videos This animal lives in a foster home that houses many animals. For these animals, we are seeking a home for a loving and safe life in a new home. The descriptions are brief because there simply isn’t time to provide detailed descriptions during the daily work of caring for all the animals. If interested, a detailed description can be requested by sending your questions directly via email to the address provided. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible. Home sought For Cornelia we are searching for a loving, understanding home. Our cats come, wherever health and age allow, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and with an EU Pass. Additionally, they are tested for FELV/FIV. We look forward to your contact.

About Cornelia

What life with Cornelia looks like

Cornelia is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cornelia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cornelia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cornelia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cornelia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cornelia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cornelia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cornelia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
