adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Cosima stays in her Romanian foster home! Her story: Cosima currently lives on a horse farm with a pack of 10 dogs. However, there is no fence, and the dogs run around freely everywhere – which constantly causes trouble with the neighbors. Additionally, the financial situation is tight, and there is not enough money for food for the animals. Therefore, the family wants to give away a part of their dogs and has asked us for help with finding a home. Cosima is about 4 years old and has a medium size of about 55 cm and 30 kg. She is a friendly and agreeable female dog who enjoys her life in the pack. She hunts cats and chickens and should not live in her new home with them. She gets along well with the children in the family and is also accustomed to horses. She probably has hat- or kitchen-protection traits. Therefore, it is important that her future owners familiarize themselves with these breed characteristics and provide the optimal conditions for her. We do not see Cosima in an urban apartment; she should find a rural, more quiet home with a garden where she can sun herself and be observed. Although Cosima knows life with humans, one should still expect that one has to start from scratch and that Cosima still has a lot to learn. With patience and positive reinforcement training, Cosima will also learn the new dog ABCs and be very happy with her new life. Our Cosima is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be sent to a new home after a positive Schenkeiung (donation)! Do you give Cosima a new life? Many thanks Velanie W.! You have given Cosima her name and thus her identity! Heartfelt thanks to Katja K. for her monthly support through a sponsorship! As of: 21.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Cosima bleibt in ihrer rumänischen Pflegestelle! Stand: 21.01.2023

About Cosima

What life with Cosima looks like

Cosima is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cosima, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cosima?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cosima on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cosima if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cosima already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cosima isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cosima and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
