How do I contact the shelter about Cosmos?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cosmos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Cosmos if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Cosmos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Cosmos isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cosmos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Cosmos

European Shorthair · Male · Senior · 11 years

Cosmos is an impressive 11-year-old black cat with striking yellow eyes that seem like two bright stars. Unfortunately, he has lost his previous owner and is now looking for a second chance. Despite his age, he is completely healthy, has the perfect energy for a quiet home, and a huge heart ready to give himself again. Don't let the number of his years fool you: mature cats are the best companions. Cosmos won't scratch your curtains or run down the hall at three in the morning; he just wants a comfortable sofa, a quiet routine, and a family to share his mature years with. Why Cosmos is the ideal companion: Golden character: He is an extremely affectionate cat who values every caress and moment by your side. Iron health: He is strong, healthy, and ready to move to his new home without complications. Clean adaptation: As an adult, he already knows the rules of a house, is clean, polite, and knows how to appreciate tranquility. Cosmos has lost his world, but his yellow eyes still shine with the hope of finding a new universe where he can be happy. Will you open the doors of your home to him?

About Cosmos

What life with Cosmos looks like

Cosmos is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid in Madrid.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.
