Crookshanks

Male · Young · 2 years

Crookshanks came into our care after a change in circumstance for his previous owner. Crookshanks struggled to begin with and spent a lot of his time hiding in various hiding spots. Over the time he’s been here, staff have gained his trust and he has become much more of an affectionate chap. Crookshanks loves to receive lots of fuss and will often give a little head bump to receive even more attention! Although he does still have his worried moments so would benefit from patient adopters who will allow him to settle in his own pace. Crookshanks arrived with a skin condition which has improved significantly with regular flea treatment and a special diet. This routine will need to be continued in his new home to keep him comfortable. Do you have the purrfect home for Crookshanks?

About Crookshanks

What life with Crookshanks looks like

Crookshanks is a medium-sized young adult cat waiting at RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Crookshanks, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Crookshanks?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Crookshanks on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Crookshanks if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Crookshanks already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Crookshanks isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Crookshanks and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
