Adopt Cuervo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Cuervo was reported to our partner animal home after an accident in a small village. At the veterinary clinic, it was discovered that he had a pelvis fracture and additionally had problems with a front leg due to a previous accident. He underwent surgery, but his front leg was so severely deformed that it unfortunately could not be saved and had to be amputated. Cuervo is an exceptionally friendly and loving dog, a true gem. He brings a very pleasant nature with him, is attentive, charmingly reserved, and simply all-around charming. He seeks the company of humans, enjoys cuddles, and shows a reserved demeanor in handling. A dog who doesn’t shout “Hello!” loudly but quietly walks into your heart. Of course, Cuervo still has a lot to learn – from everyday life to dog ABC. He is compatible with other dogs and shows great friendliness in handling fellow animals. For Cuervo, we are looking for people with hearts who give a chance to a handicapped dog. People who see what lies within him – a faithful companion and a friend for life. An apartment on the ground floor would be advantageous for him, and a garden would of course be a small extra highlight, but is not necessary – what is important is that he is allowed to arrive and be loved. Cuervo shows every day: You don’t need four legs to get through life – sometimes three and a whole lot of heart are enough. Who gives this special dog his chance? About Cuervo

What life with Cuervo looks like

Cuervo is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. in Marsberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cuervo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cuervo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cuervo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cuervo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cuervo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cuervo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cuervo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
