Cuki B

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Cuki - a young intelligent Terrier is waiting at the animal shelter in Hungary 🐾 Cuki's story begins much sadder than his cheerful nature suggests. He comes from a hobby breeder whose older owner wanted to put him to sleep because Cuki kept jumping on him and playfully biting his pants. However, this behavior is not unusual for an energetic young Terrier who needs adequate exercise. Unfortunately, he was punished instead of being shown how to use his energy constructively. Fortunately, we were able to intervene in time and bring Cuki to safety. Cuki was born in January 2024, is 39 cm tall, and has developed beautifully since his arrival. Initially, his coat was very sparse and patchy due to a skin condition. With proper care, this is no longer visible today - Cuki has fully recovered and become a beautiful young male dog. At the shelter, Cuki learned to better control himself, accept boundaries, and calm down. He even found a great kennel buddy. Although he's the smaller of the two, he likes to try to take charge. The two play together exuberantly most of the time and enjoy their time together. Minor disagreements are usually loudly discussed instead of physically fought out. Cuki is initially somewhat reserved with people. However, if you give him some time, he quickly gains trust and enjoys contact. He had only recently met the woman in the video - still, he already got along well with her. For Cuki, we are looking for active and ideally dog-experienced people who enjoy working with an intelligent and eager to learn Terrier. He needs not only sufficient exercise but also mental stimulation as well as clear, loving and consistent leadership. People who appreciate the typical characteristics of a Terrier and give him the necessary structure and security will find in Cuki a loyal, cheerful and extraordinary companion. Who gives Cuki the chance for a home where he can finally be understood and show what a wonderful dog is in him? We are happy to answer your questions.

About Cuki B

What life with Cuki B looks like

Cuki B is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. in Nordwalde.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cuki B, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cuki B?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cuki B on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cuki B if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cuki B already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cuki B isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cuki B and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
