adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Curacao has found a home! His story: Longing for freedom and adventure in a small body! This look speaks volumes: the little Curacao sits in the cramped shelter pen, and one can clearly see how much he longs for liberation, long journeys, and real life. He is a captivating, friendly Husky-Mix who, despite his typical elegance of the breed, presents a more manageable version with his smaller size of about 45-50 cm and 14-15 kg – a Husky in miniature format, but with the big heart and temperament of a true Northerner! 🩷 Curacao was found alone on the street and brought to the public shelter of Bistrita by the dogcatchers. Now, this young, active male dog waits to finally get to know the world that has been denied to him so far. Despite his past, Curacao is an unshakeably friendly dog. He is friendly to people and delights in every affection. He is also compatible with fellow animals, whether that also applies to cats, we do not know. Whoever adopts Curacao must understand the specifics of a Husky: he is a born runner and needs daily intensive, long-lasting physical and mental exertion. This means more than just walks around the block – we think of jogging, accompanying on a bike, tug-of-war, or extensive, sporty hikes. A garden would be great, but it is no substitute for real movement. As a clever, social dog, Curacao also needs clear rules, consistency, and full integration into the family. Due to the likely hunting instinct, training for an absolutely reliable recall is essential. Attending dog training classes would also be a good idea. Here, many activities are often offered so that you can discover together what you enjoy. We wish for this lovely, little power dog active, nature-connected, and experienced people who love and share his running passion. Are you giving Curacao the chance to begin his great adventure by your side? Curacao travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home. His EU pet passport is also ready. After a positive But also a foster home would be a first step to a better quality of life for the little guy! Many thanks, Barbara! You have given Curacao a beautiful name and thus an identity.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Curacao

What life with Curacao looks like

Curacao is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Curacao, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Curacao?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Curacao on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Curacao if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Curacao already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Curacao isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Curacao and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
