Adopt Curti

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

You're looking for a lively, playful male dog who would happily accompany you on shared adventures, but who can also just relax and let his spirit wander sometimes? 🐾 Then you should definitely meet me! 🐶 Since September 2024, I've been living in the animal shelter – and while I've settled in well now, the adjustment was certainly a big change for me at first. My master couldn't take care of me anymore due to health reasons, and so my life changed completely overnight. Everything was new: the surroundings, the people, the sounds, and the smells. It takes time to get used to it – but I've done my best. 🐕 And you know what? I've found my place here. I especially enjoy the long walks 🐾 and I'm always happy to receive the loving "room service." The people here – whether they're caretakers or volunteer walk leaders – really go out of their way to make my time as pleasant as possible. Small training sessions also belong to my everyday life. They're not just fun, but also help me build trust and become more relaxed in certain situations. 🐶 What I wish for my new home? 🏡 You should enjoy spending time with me – whether we're out and about or learning and growing together. By the way, my heart is won quite easily: love definitely goes through my stomach with me! 🍖 A treat is always on hand for me, and it fits perfectly into my training. I especially love going on the hunt – it really makes me happy! 🐾 But you should also know: I've learned in my life to clearly show my limits – and yes, I have bitten before. And I would likely do it again if I feel pressured, if I'm given too much, or if someone touches me without asking. Regular visits to the vet are not exactly my favorite activities… a muzzle is definitely in order. 🐕 So, I wish for people with patience, understanding, and experience who can help me better handle such situations in the future. 🐶 My new home should be more on the quiet side and with people who are experienced with dogs – I'm definitely not a beginner dog. Children or cats shouldn't live with me. I get along with other dogs depending on the relationship, but I have my own mind – after all, I bring with my 11 years of age a certain life experience and personality. 🐾 Oh, by the way: driving isn't a problem for me, and I'm house-trained of course!

About Curti

What life with Curti looks like

Curti is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Solingen in Solingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Curti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Curti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Solingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Curti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Curti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Solingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Curti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Curti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Solingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Curti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
