Curti

Male · Senior · 12 years

You're looking for a lively and playful male dog who enjoys going on walks with you but also likes to relax on his own sometimes? Then get to know me! The past few weeks have been very exciting and stressful for me. My master wasn't feeling well and couldn't take care of me anymore. That's why I had to move into our shelter. You can imagine what that meant for me. All my old habits were suddenly gone, but in their place came lots of new people, a new environment, new smells and sounds… That definitely doesn't happen to anyone without notice. Fortunately, I managed to get along well with the new circumstances after some time. Currently, I really enjoy the long walks and of course the daily room service. The staff and the volunteer walkers are already doing a lot to make my time at the animal shelter as pleasant as possible. Daily interactions also include small training sessions, which definitely help to strengthen our bond, reduce stress and tension in certain situations, and build trust. What I would like for my new home? You should definitely have fun going on walks together and interacting with each other. And you should already be familiar with dogs that sometimes show offensive behavior. Love definitely goes through my stomach, and I'm always ready for a treat. You can definitely use this during our joint training. My home should be relatively quiet. Children shouldn't be there. With other dogs, I am generally compatible based on a liking, but I prefer to keep my space to myself. I have already met encounters with cats within the scope of a previous placement request and have managed the situations well according to my staff.

About Curti

What life with Curti looks like

Curti is a large senior dog waiting at Tierheim Wuppertal in Wuppertal.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Curti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Curti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wuppertal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Curti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Curti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wuppertal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Curti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Curti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wuppertal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Curti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
