Custard

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Senior · 16 years

RESERVED This is gorgeous 16yr old Custard. He is looking for a long foster forever home. He is FIV positive so will need an indoor home only. This poor boy has been living on the streets most of his life, having to fight and fend for himself and has only just been neutered. He is such a friendly boy and deserves to spend the rest of his life in a loving and secure environment. He is deaf, but has a magnificent sense of smell as he knows when it’s feeding time as he suddenly pops his head out to let us know where he is. He has had dental treatment and has minimal teeth now. He is very healthy considering what he has to contend with most of his life, he is on no medication. If you think you can give this big softy a loving home please message us to find out more information on him xxx

About Custard

What life with Custard looks like

Custard is a large senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Custard, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Custard?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Custard on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Custard if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Custard already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Custard isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO early rather than rehoming privately; they know Custard and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
