Daisy

Female · Senior · 8 years

German Wirehaired Pointer Daisy – sometimes things just don’t work out, even though no one has done anything wrong. Sometimes life simply plays out differently than we’d hoped. Recently, Daisy was able to leave the animal shelter full of hope and move into her new home. Unfortunately, she now has to leave that home again—through no fault of her own. She hasn’t done anything wrong; sometimes a pack just doesn’t harmonize the way we’d like it to. The approximately eight-year-old dog is still a bit cautious and easily startled at first. Many things are still new to her, and she needs people who will give her the time she needs to settle in at her own pace. Yet every day, Daisy shows just how much potential she holds. Once she’s gained trust, she thoroughly enjoys being close to her people, loves being petted, and even asks for little play sessions now and then. Outside, she’s increasingly orienting herself toward her trusted caregivers, can already relax quite well, and is starting to explore her surroundings with curiosity. She’s attentive, intelligent, and eager to learn. In a calm, peaceful home, Daisy will gradually overcome her insecurities and blossom into a wonderful companion. Even though Daisy is already eight years old, she still has plenty of joy for life inside her. She’s agile, active, and isn’t just looking for a cozy bed—she’s seeking people who want to discover the world together with her. Daisy is probably not the best fit for families with small children. She’d love a quiet environment with people who recognize her subtle signals, provide her with security, and lovingly accompany her on her journey ahead. Whoever gives Daisy this chance will be rewarded with an incredibly sweet, intelligent, and highly adaptable dog who, with a little patience, will open her heart and become a loyal companion for life. If you think Daisy might be the perfect match for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with her assigned adoption counselor. Here’s the link to Daisy’s video!

About Daisy

What life with Daisy looks like

Daisy is a senior dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
