Dana

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Fans of Peanuts already know it, but for everyone else, let it be firmly established: everyone should have at least one Beagle in their life. If it's not your own, you should find a Beagle in your neighborhood, because Beagles are simply good for the soul. Since not everyone can have a Beagle, those who can should not hesitate to live with a Snoopy-like specimen – and if you're one of those people, we have the perfect Beagle for you and your neighbors! Dana is seven years old (as of September 2023) and was rescued by the animal protection officers from Puntanimals in July in Moguer. Her owners had threatened to shoot the lively, lovable, and very affectionate female dog if our partners didn't take her directly. Of course, Dana got into the car directly and was taken to the small animal shelter. Dana is no longer a puppy, but she is still very fit and playful. She loves long walks and is still blessed with a great sense of adventure. Our Beagle has only known life as a family member and in the house, but currently, Dana is showing great courage at the animal shelter. Dana is well-balanced and has basic training (which is appropriate for her breed – a Beagle is always dignified and not really "trainable"). For lovers of her breed, she could be the perfect beginner dog, as it is unlikely that the cute tricolor princess will chew on furniture, recognize house training as a concept, or panic at the sight of an open car door. Beagles are scent hounds and are naturally energetic and playful. They are often used in large packs for work, and this also applies to Dana. She is not a loner; she wants her family around her at all times. The more legs are moving around the happy heartbreaker, the better. This does not mean that Dana cannot be alone sometimes, but she is only truly happy in a pack and it's clear how much she enjoys being "surrounded by love from all sides." In summary, we are looking for a fun family with as many members as possible – two- and/or four-legged – who are all Beagle fans and can help make the loss of her previous owners easier for her. Long walks, ball games, snuggling, and lots of love and humor will likely turn Dana's move into a new great adventure in the life of the friendly lady.

About Dana

What life with Dana looks like

Dana is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
