Danielle - a little rocket on four paws Hello, my name is Danielle, a young female puppy from Romania, wirehaired in heart and lots of energy in her four paws. My surname could therefore be "Düsentrieb" indeed. A small joke on the side. After all, Daniel Düsentrieb is a duck and she would rather chase me, because I have a wirehaired temperament. And those who know wirehaired dogs know: standing still is not an option. I love life! I run a lot in the exercise yard, I like to play with my buddy Ilyas and I eat for my life. The people who enter the kennel with food are consistently besieged and if they don't give anything anymore, I conduct a body search. I smell when there's still something to be had and I help very willingly to empty the deliciously smelling bags. Delicious, … but unfortunately not desired, … no matter. I still have to learn that people are not food dispensers with self-service function. But I can also relax. At least until the next person or dog comes by the kennel or exercise yard. We have an extremely well-functioning early warning system. 😉 So that I can learn a little more patience, I'm currently practicing the 10-treat game. The bipeds count the treats very slowly individually into the hand and then throw them into the grass so that I can search for them. I can already count to four! And my search rate? A grandiose 100 percent! Can I apply for a search squad now? Oh, there's still something missing. The topic of putting on a harness and collar … reluctantly. But I have to get through it. Because without a harness, there is no outing. But then I forget that it is on my body. We have already completed the first walks on the leash and they were totally exciting, exciting and interesting. Sniffing right, sniffing left, back and front and everywhere. The bipeds had quite a bit to do to prevent a leash chaos with Ilyas. The pictures of me are from what I wrote above. That's when I finally held still. Before that, all the pictures were blurry. As I said: I have a hummingbird in my butt. So I am a young, spirited female dog who still wants to learn a lot and needs people who show me the world patiently, give me boundaries and at the same time do a lot with me. Who is looking for a little rocket with great charm, could be right with me. Boredom? There is no way with me. I guarantee that! 🐾 PS: Children in the household should be a bit older (from 12 years) Animal adoptions are currently only taking place by appointment. We therefore ask you to contact us in advance by phone at 05481 / 4146 or by e-mail if you are interested in one of our animals.

About Danielle

What life with Danielle looks like

Danielle is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Danielle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Danielle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Danielle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Danielle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Danielle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Danielle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Danielle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
