Adopt Darkia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

The sister puppies Darkia and Dystra were found together on the street completely alone – without a chip, without any known history. What they have experienced so far, we do not know. Today, the two await their people at our partner shelter Allatbarat in Hungary. Darkia and Dystra are friendly and loving dogs who are open and approachable. Just normal young puppies. It’s clear that they want to explore the world – they just need the right framework to unleash their full potential. They need physical and mental stimulation and will have great fun with tasks. Activities like fetching, tracking work, or other nose and head engagements could be exactly what they enjoy. Of course, Darkia and Dystra still have a lot to learn – from everyday routines to puppy ABC. With other dogs, they are compatible and social. For the two, we are looking for people who like to actively go through life, enjoy shared mental stimulation, and are eager to guide a young puppy on their journey. People who give them security and are also ready to explore the world with them. Who will give one (or perhaps even both) of these wonderful female dogs a home? Darkia and Dystra do not have to be rehomed together. RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_9bd0c8fc"); RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_9c6a899b");

Die Geschwisterhündinnen Darkia und Dystra wurden gemeinsam auf der Straße ganz alleine gefunden – ohne Chip, ohne bekannte Vorgeschichte. Was sie bisher erlebt haben, wissen wir nicht. Heute warten die beiden in unserem Partnertierheim Allatbarat in Ungarn auf ihre Menschen. Darkia und Dystra sind freundliche und liebe Hunde, die sich zugänglich und aufgeschlossen zeigen. Eben ganz normale Junghunde. Man merkt, dass sie die Welt entdecken möchten – sie brauchen nur den richtigen Rahmen, um ihr volles Potenzial zu entfalten. Sie möchten körperlich und geistig ausgelastet werden und werden großen Spaß an Aufgaben haben. Apportieren, Fährtenarbeit oder andere Beschäftigungen für Nase und Kopf könnten genau ihr Ding sein. Natürlich müssen Darkia und Dystra noch lernen – von den Alltagsroutinen bis zum Hunde-ABC. Mit anderen Hunden sind sie verträglich und sozial. Für die beiden suchen wir Menschen, die gerne aktiv durchs Leben gehen, Freude an gemeinsamer Beschäftigung haben und Lust darauf, einen jungen Hund auf ihrem Weg zu begleiten. Menschen, die ihnen Sicherheit geben und gleichzeitig bereit sind, mit ihnen die Welt zu erobern. Wer schenkt einer (oder vielleicht sogar beiden) dieser tollen Hündinnen ein Zuhause? Darkia und Dystra müssen nicht zusammen vermittelt werden. RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_b2e664a8"); RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_0d8466e5");

About Darkia

What life with Darkia looks like

Darkia is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. in Marsberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Darkia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Darkia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Darkia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Darkia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Darkia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Darkia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Darkia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
