Darwin

European Shorthair · Male · Senior · 14 years

Age: Born on 05/15/2012 Identification: JDX847 Physical characteristics: A beautiful tabby cat. Vaccinated, spayed, tested negative for FIV/FELV and identified by tattoo. Darwin has a treatment for kidney failure that he takes without any problem, and a special diet. Personality: Darwin is a senior cat who doesn't look his age at all! He is not shy and quickly adapted to his new environment when he came to the house. He is well-behaved, kind, and knows how to make his humans aware when he needs attention by following them around and meowing and purring. He is a chatty cat, and that's what makes him charming! In addition to being curious, he likes to be petted and can easily become a purring machine. He also likes to play with a feather toy or with objects he finds in the apartment. At night, he sleeps on the couch without waking his humans. It is only in the early morning that he comes to see us in bed purring when he senses that we are waking up. His favorite sin? Climbing onto his humans' shoulders! It is definitely his favorite spot to observe the world from above. He has a slight preference for the masculine gender, perhaps because they are generally broader-shouldered! Darwin is a cat who needs attention and does not like to be alone for too long. If you are away for a few days, you need to find a solution for care or someone who can spend time with him every day. In summary, Darwin is an easy cat to live with, who loves human company and will amuse the guests when they come to the house! Background: His former owner passed away and the family could not take him back. Ideal placement: A loving and attentive family who will give him the attention he needs. He needs a large space, a secure balcony would be a real "plus". Contact: Cat is available in foster care in Paris 12th district. Contact Karine volunteer, by phone (evening after 7 pm & weekends), by email or via web form.

About Darwin

What life with Darwin looks like

Darwin is a small senior european shorthair cat waiting at Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 in Paris.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Darwin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Darwin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Darwin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Darwin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Darwin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Darwin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 early rather than rehoming privately; they know Darwin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
