Dasha

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Dasha is a mixed breed female dog, estimated to have been born in 2025, who was found abandoned and brought to the animal shelter of our Hungarian partner organization. She will be spayed before adoption. Dasha is very friendly and has an open nature. She happily plays around, enjoys being petted and appreciates all attention. She would certainly make a wonderful companion for long walks or hikes. She shows herself to be eager to learn, interested and cooperative. Dasha is well suited as a family dog, but children should already be in their teenage years. She gets along well with male dogs, while her compatibility with female dogs depends on personal preference. Therefore, we recommend her as a second dog for a dog owner. It is not known how she reacts to cats. She desires loving and active people who can patiently and consistently train her, have enough free time and preferably live in a rural area, in a home with a garden. Some experience in dog ownership should already be present. The female has a shoulder height of 58 cm and weighs 28 kg.

About Dasha

What life with Dasha looks like

Dasha is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
