(To ensure that your completed applicant form is actually submitted to us, you must absolutely accept the cookies on our website. Otherwise, we won't receive your self-disclosure.) We wish we could say that David had an easy start in life. The little fellow was found all alone in mid-May at the train station in Karcag (Hungary). Fortunately, he was spotted in time by an animal-loving person who immediately informed our partner animal shelter. No one knows what might have happened to the poor little guy otherwise. So David was lucky enough to move into the shelter and finally be safe. But his worries weren't over yet. Shortly after his arrival, David was diagnosed with parvovirus. Luckily, this little fighter survived the illness thanks to lots of care and a strong fighting spirit and has now fully recovered. Today, the once frail puppy has become a cheerful, lively young dog, ready to explore the world. With his handsome appearance, David is winning the hearts of his helpers by storm. His delicate build, slightly shorter legs, and light-brown coat with white markings on his chest, paws, and muzzle make him unmistakable. David proves to be a happy, carefree, and open-minded young dog. As soon as he was taken outside, he darted off curiously, explored his surroundings, and played joyfully. He meets people friendly and openly. Now David is ready for the next step. Of course, David is still at the very beginning of his training. He hasn't mastered the basics of dog handling yet, and as a young dog just about to enter puberty, David naturally has a lot more to learn. Housebreaking, leash manners, and basic obedience don't happen overnight. However, this little male dog brings the best prerequisites: curiosity, openness, and the joy of going through life together with his people. We're looking for people who aren't easily put off by a dog's puberty but who enjoy accompanying a young dog on his journey toward adulthood. Attending a dog school is a prerequisite here. Who would like to show David that his journey is finally leading to a happy and secure dog life? David travels vaccinated, with an identification chip and EU pet passport. At his age, David isn't neutered yet. All our rescue dogs receive a safety harness upon leaving the shelter. We'd like to point out that all our rescued dogs—whose backgrounds we often know little or nothing about—are placed directly from the shelters into their new families. Especially in the initial phase, they therefore need plenty of time and patience. Usually, these animals aren't housebroken, can't walk on a leash, and don't know any commands yet. Moreover, at first they may sometimes be shy or easily startled. Are you interested in this dog? Then click on this link to go directly to the adoption form. Current photos

Aktuelle Bilder

About David

What life with David looks like

David is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Paradies für Tiere e.V. in Reutlingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting David, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about David?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Paradies für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw David on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt David if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Paradies für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is David already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if David isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Paradies für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know David and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
