Adopt Dawid

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Dawid is about 6 years old. Two years ago, he arrived at the shelter with a head injury and a bitten tongue. That night, he was seriously hit. He underwent jaw and reconstructive jaw surgery. His tongue was sutured, he is blind in his right eye, and the left one was removed. His whiskers are also blind. The injury was very serious, despite consultations with veterinarians from outside Wrocław – nothing more could be done. Nerves were damaged, so Dawid is unable to feed himself. Therefore, he must have someone with him who will feed him with a spoon or place liquid food under his nose. Therefore, it must be seriously considered whether to adopt Dawid. Leaving a bowl of food and leaving for three days is not an option. Dawid very clearly signals when he is hungry, so there will be no problem reading his needs. Being in a temporary home for two years, he has learned to live with his limitations. He uses the litter box correctly, gets along with other cats and the dog, and does very well in domestic conditions, enjoying human company. He loves playing with toys, enjoys being petted, and likes to sleep on the scratching post. He runs, climbs, and plays wildly with other healthy roommates and would be a great friend to other resident cats as well. Even combing is well-tolerated. This is a very confident and calm kitten. The home must be indoor-only. He is vaccinated and neutered. FIV/FELV tests are negative. A permanent home is sought.

Dawid ma około 6 lat. Dwa lata temu trafił do nas z urazem głowy i pogryzionym językiem. Tamtej nocy został bardzo poważnie potrącony. Przeszedł operacje składania żuchwy i szczęki. Nawet czesanie godnie znosi. Jest to kotek bardzo stateczny i spokojny. Dom musi być niewychodzący. Jest zaszczepiony i wykastrowany. Testy fiv / felv ujemne. Szukamy domu stałego.

About Dawid

What life with Dawid looks like

Dawid is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dawid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dawid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dawid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dawid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dawid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dawid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dawid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
