adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Deegan can stay forever in his foster home! His story: 89269 Vöhringen. Deegan could travel to his foster home in early February. Before that, he spent about 2 years in the shelter Baia Mare and had developed into a friendly, people-oriented male dog who was very happy to have visitors. In the foster home, he is settling in, but he shows himself to be a dog who needs a confident and consistent person by his side who can read him well. He tests his limits and when he notices any uncertainty, the boy dances on everyone's nose. He is definitely not an inexperienced dog. Deegan works well and is motivated to solve tasks, and he wants to be encouraged. Fetch games, dummy training, or even climbing, physical "courage tests" make him very happy. After an adjustment period, you can surely find out together what makes him happy and mentally challenges him, because Deegan is attentive, intelligent, and learns very quickly. He is very alert, and he already runs well on a leash. He can also be left alone for a while. Since he shows a prey drive, we do not see him with cats and small animals. Also, we do not currently see him with children in the same household because his protective instinct is well developed. Our boy is estimated to be around 5 years old, with a shoulder height of about 55 cm, making him a medium-sized dog. For Deegan, we are looking for a wonderful home with a large, fenced-in garden, with loving and dog-experienced people who can provide him with the necessary security. dog training classes from the first day, positive reinforcement but also setting rules and boundaries are very important for a dog like Deegan. Deegan is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated, and his EU pet passport is already in his kennel. If you show Deegan that there are good people and how wonderful life can be? That would be great, because his kennel is already packed. Many thanks to Caro B.! You gave Deegan his name! And a big thank you to Normann J., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Deegan. Status: 18.05.

Stand: 18.05.2024

About Deegan

What life with Deegan looks like

Deegan is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Deegan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Deegan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Deegan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Deegan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Deegan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Deegan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Deegan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
