adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Dido has found a home! His story: Dido and his five siblings – Aiden, Annie, Bari, Cody, and Tosca – had a tough start in life. Like a bunch of forgotten toys, they were left in the middle of a village in a banana box – small, defenseless, and with no chance of surviving on their own. Luckily, they were found in time and brought to safety. Now, Dido is searching for his very own home – with love, patience, and many adventures. Dido is a real looker: he sports a black-brown fur that changes with the light, and his loyal, warm brown eyes look curiously and attentively into the world. His nature is just as captivating as his appearance: playful, lively, friendly, and open. He loves to discover new things, join in with his siblings in play, or sniff the world thoroughly. So far, Dido has only known life in his Romanian foster home. Household life, indoor cleanliness, being alone, or environmental stimuli – all of this will be new to him. He will need time and loving guidance to adapt. Especially during puberty, Dido will challenge his humans – with small tests, pubertal quirks, and a lot of charm. Positive dog training classes can be a valuable support during this time – for Dido and his trusted people. After his adjustment period, Dido will surely also enjoy age-appropriate mental stimulation. Whether small sniffing games, puzzles, walks, nose work, or first tricks – as long as it makes for fun and brings variety to his day. Dido is looking for a home with people who don’t just want him for his pretty looks, but who will show him the world, support and guide him – with patience, loving consequences, and an open heart. A securely fenced garden would be nice, but is not a must. What’s more important is that his people are ready to invest time and responsibility in him – because Dido won’t stay a sweet puppy forever, but will become a loyal companion for life. We hope so much that he can now experience the beautiful sides of life and learn that there are people who only want the best for him. Dido is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings an EU pet passport with him and can be adopted after a positive foster home experience. We would be very happy to have a sweet man like Dido in a loving forever home! Who will give him a warm forever home? Many thanks to Ingo! You gave Dido his name. Date: 27.04.

Vielen Dank an Ingo! Du hast Dido seinen Namen geschenkt. About Dido

What life with Dido looks like

Dido is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dido, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dido?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dido on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dido if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dido already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dido isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dido and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
