Degu-Damen-Duo

Degu · Female · 1 year

Type: Degu. Gender: female. Color: wild-colored. Age: juvenile - adult. In the animal shelter since: 27.05.2025 HTV-Number: 178_A_25, 179_A_25, 191_A_25, 203_A_25, 204_A_25 The degu ladies come from a dramatic case of animal hoarding with several hundred animals or are the offspring of female animals that arrived pregnant. After an initial period of shyness, the degu ladies have relatively quickly adapted to life in the animal shelter. Especially when there is something to eat, the ladies can be seen. The rodents need same-species company, a large cage with different levels, houses, and bedding material for digging. The minimum requirements regarding the size of the accommodation and the correct type of bedding material can be found here. As degus are not cuddly but observation animals, they prefer to spend time with their fellow animals rather than with us humans. Under supervision, degus can be allowed free roam in the home. It must be ensured that all danger sources like cables or poisonous plants are removed. Since degus have fixed hierarchies in their families, the introduction to new fellow animals must be done very carefully. If you wish to support Die Degu Damen, we are happy if you take on a sponsorship for her.

Art: Degu. Geschlecht: weiblich.

Frequently asked

Adopting Degu-Damen-Duo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Degu-Damen-Duo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Degu-Damen-Duo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Degu-Damen-Duo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Degu-Damen-Duo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Degu-Damen-Duo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Degu-Damen-Duo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
