Sturdy plastic carrier — what most shelters require for pickup.
First-week safe space. Shelter dogs settle faster with a crate.
Legally required in most EU countries for transporting dogs.
Dog-specific pheromone diffuser. Worth it for the trip home.
Worth the upgrade — rescues often have joint issues from kennels.

Die liebe Wendy wünscht sich ein neues Zuhause is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Spirit - Zentrum für Tiere in Not - Dr Franz-Joseph Plank in Klamm.
Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.
Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.
