Dimitroula: Our girl was found by one of our volunteers on Saint Demetrius Day in 2025, lying in the middle of a busy highway, completely disoriented and weak. She was taken to the vet, where it was confirmed that she is definitely over 10 years old, weighs 32 kilos—about 10 kilos below her ideal weight—and has very poor dental health. She tested positive for dirofilariosis, though her heart hasn’t been severely affected by it. Dimitroula’s biggest problem is protein loss from her intestines. Our sweet, calm, and utterly cooperative girl wore a leash and let us lead her to our shelter, where she lay down in her enclosure, now feeling calm and safe. Since we didn’t recognize her as a stray from our area, we believe she was abandoned when she grew old and became seriously ill. Today, our girl continues to stay close to us and receives medication for her heart condition and protein loss. Calm, sweet, tender—she immediately gives her heart to anyone who meets her and gets along wonderfully with everyone! A little diamond who, in the twilight of her life, came to brighten ours! We don’t have much hope that she’ll be adopted, but we’ll give it a shot! Someone out there might fall in love with her soulful little eyes and offer her a soft, dry pillow and a warm hug so she can spend the rest of her life in comfort! Δημητρούλα Το κορίτσι μας βρέθηκε από εθελόντριά μας ανήμερα του Αγίου Δημητρίου του 2025, ξαπλωμένη στη μέση δρόμου ταχείας κυκλοφορία, τελείως αποπροσανατολισμένη και αδύναμη. Μεταφέρθηκε στο γιατρό όπου διαπιστώθηκε ότι είναι σίγουρα πάνω από 10 ετών, 32 κιλά, περίπου 10 κάτω από το κανονικό της βάρος, με πολύ κακή κατάσταση δοντιών, θετική στη διροφιλάρια χωρίς ωστόσο να έχει επηρεαστεί η καρδιά της πολύ σοβαρά από αυτήν. Το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα της Δημητρούλας μας είναι η απώλεια πρωτεϊνών από το έντερο. Το γλυκύτατο, ήρεμο και απόλυτα συνεργάσιμο κορίτσι μας έβαλε λουρί και μας άφησε να το οδηγήσουμε στον χώρο φιλοξενίας μας όπου ξάπλωσε στην περιφραξούλα του πλέον ήρεμο και ασφαλές. Καθώς δεν το αναγνωρίζαμε σαν αδεσποτάκι της περιοχής μας, θεωρούμε ότι πρόκειται για εγκατάλειψη όταν γέρασε και αρρώστησε σοβαρά. Σήμερα το κορίτσι μας εξακολουθεί να βρίσκεται κοντά μας και να παίρνει φαρμακευτική αγωγή για την καρδιά και την απώλεια πρωτεϊνών. Ήρεμο, γλυκύτατο, τρυφερό, χαρίζει την καρδούλα της αμέσως σε όποιον δει και τα πάει καλά με όλους ! Ένα διαμαντάκι που στη δύση της ζωούλας του ήρθε να ομορφύνει τη δική μας ζωή ! Δεν έχουμε πολλές ελπίδες ότι θα υιοθετηθεί, αλλά θα το δοκιμάσουμε ! Κάποιος εκεί έξω μπορεί να ερωτευτεί τα βαθουλωμένα ματάκια του και να του δώσει ένα μαλακό, στεγνό μαξιλαράκι και μια αγκαλιά για να ζήσει τα υπόλοιπα χρόνια της ζωούλας του !
