Adopt Dina

Female · Adult · 4 years

Dina is a 6-year-old female mastiff. She came to us through a seizure, so unfortunately we have no information about her past. Dina is a smart lady who we have come to know as a mastiff with a golden heart. That golden heart does not show itself immediately to everyone, she initially has some difficulty with strange people. During the time Dina has been here with us, we have worked thoroughly on this and it is noticeable. Dina now walks smoothly with strangers after a small introduction, and we are proud of her. Dina is also looking for people with experience who want to continue working with her. Once she knows you, she is a huge cuddler. Now Dina is looking for a golden bed. Dina is only placed with people with experience with the breed. Dina can be tested with your own dog! Here she can get along with both male and female dogs after introduction. She will certainly not be placed with children. Dina needs a lot of exercise like every Mastiff and is therefore looking for active people who want to do a lot with her. A garden is a requirement for Dina. She is only placed with people where she can truly be part of the family and live inside. She is not placed as an outdoor or guard dog. Dina was already spayed by us.

About Dina

What life with Dina looks like

Dina is a small adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
