Adopt Dina

Female · Adult · 7 years

She is a puppy, one of the puppies we took in when they were 2.5 weeks old. The puppies were born on 09.08.2018. Dinka will probably take after her mother, she looks like an RTW and also in build. Since Dinka returned from adoption for the third time, we have classified her as a "stayer". Dina is not bad, she is not a problematic dog, as some say, she just has fear. Fear of what she does not know. The third adoption looked very promising, even she went swimming with the owner, but probably someone hurt her while the man was at work. And then it went downhill: fear, distrust, panic, biting... If someone is found who is suitable for her, who has enough time, who knows how to handle her, we will be very happy if she gets adopted. For now, however, she remains a stayer...

A potom to už šlo: strach, nedôvera, panika, kúsnutie...

About Dina

What life with Dina looks like

Dina is a adult dog waiting at OZ Záchranný koráb in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OZ Záchranný koráb handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OZ Záchranný koráb will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OZ Záchranný koráb early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
