adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this dog now! Our Dingdong comes originally from the public shelter in Bistrita. He was able to leave in May 2023 and is waiting for his final happiness! Dingdong is 8 years old and a big dog at 67 cm, and he has a shortened tail, which is how he was found in Romania. In the shelter, he moved confidently among dogs and sought attention from people. He came to Germany and showed his independent character in a home - just as his genes suggested. It turned out that Dingdong would be happier as a single dog, and that was the reason why he then moved to a pension in Grünberg. There, he lives his life on his own and sometimes earns his respect, dominating smaller dogs. He largely tolerates larger animals like himself. He seeks human contact on his own terms - Dingdong is not a cuddly dog, but he forms bonds with people. What and who does Dingdong need? A house with a garden where he can do his control walks and walk in nature with a leash or harness. Dingdong needs clear instructions and consistency from his person. He likes to question what the person expects from him and then decides whether he wants to respond and will. It is important to work on communication with Dingdong and to work out understanding and mutual understanding. Dingdong is a great companion for life if you want a strong-willed dog by your side and are yourself strong-willed and confident. Dingdong is a Mioritic mixed breed and thus has herding dog genes. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home that has already had experience with these characteristics or is willing to deal with them and above all brings the optimal conditions. Herding dogs are not city dogs. They should rather live in rural areas, a garden would be great and little visitors or changing people. They are also not suitable for taking to the office. Herding dogs have great qualities. People who have had experience with herding dogs do not want other breeds anymore, as they are loyal and faithful companions despite their thick-headedness. We wish for our Dingdong a home that is ready to train him and show him even more how nice life can be. He is looking for confident people, with patience and experience. He has not been able to experience much so far. Dingdong goes neutered, dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for fleas to his new home. He has an EU pet passport and will be adopted against an adoption fee and after a positive Also, a move to an experienced foster home is possible and desirable, in order to be better prepared for a life in a family. Have you fallen in love with our Dingdong? Then contact us! Many thanks to Sandra B.! You gave Dingdong the name in memory of Sandra. S. His name. A big thanks also goes to Dora S., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Dingdong. Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Was und wen braucht Dingdong? Hast du dich in unseren Dingdong verliebt? Dann meld dich bei uns! Vielen Dank Sandra B.! Du hast Dingdong in Gedenken an Sandra. S. seinen Namen geschenkt.

About Dingdong

What life with Dingdong looks like

Dingdong is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dingdong, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dingdong?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dingdong on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dingdong if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dingdong already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dingdong isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dingdong and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
