DINGO

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

DINGO is almost 3 years old. He was found in very poor condition – extremely thin, clearly undernourished, and his coat was dull and sparse. At first, DINGO can be a bit shy and endearingly awkward, but once he feels more confident, he shows his true nature – a cheerful, warm-hearted dog who greatly needs human contact and quality time together. Walking on a leash was something completely new for him, but at the animal shelter he bravely learns the rules and is getting better each day. He prefers to walk right next to his caregiver, because then he feels calm and safe. However, when another dog appears on the horizon, curiosity immediately shows itself and DINGO happily wants to greet it. In interactions with other dogs, he is open and can communicate, although sometimes he responds to provocations. Therefore, any potential cohabitation with another dog should be preceded by a calm introduction and a joint walk. Many signs indicate that DINGO may not have known real home life before. Nevertheless, we imagine him as a dog who joyfully jumps onto the couch after a walk and falls asleep curled up with his caregiver. He has a lot of youthful energy and puppy-like joy, but also a great need for closeness. This is definitely not a dog "for the yard" – we are looking for a responsible, patient, and understanding caregiver who will show him what real home and a sense of security are. DINGO will certainly repay you with unlimited loyalty, faithfulness, and a beautiful, strong bond. This is a dog who is capable of loving with all his heart. We invite you for a meeting walk and personal meeting with DINGO – perhaps it's your trusting look that he is waiting for.

PL·Show original

Kontakt do wolontariusza: 880 480 743

About DINGO

What life with DINGO looks like

DINGO is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Kraków in Kraków.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Found in very poor condition, undernourished. New to leash walking and house life. Needs patient, understanding owner to show him what a real home means.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting DINGO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about DINGO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kraków handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw DINGO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt DINGO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kraków will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is DINGO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if DINGO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kraków early rather than rehoming privately; they know DINGO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
