Adopt DJ

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

August 19, 2024: Two of our team colleagues made a spontaneous trip to Sardinia in mid-August to personally get to know and photograph our shelter dogs. They also visited Mama Doghina and her puppies Dabby, Daffy, Daikiri, Demetra, Destiny, Divina, and Donatella, as well as DJ. Her sister Dea had already had the good fortune to travel to Germany by the end of July. It's simply sad that these wonderful dogs are still sitting in Canile. From the little delights, they have now become beautiful puppies. They were very happy about the visit and the cuddles. We hope that they will soon find their own families to lead a happy dog life. Of course, the same applies to Mama Doghina, who is also a magical being. August 28, 2025: A team colleague and her daughter sacrificed part of their vacation time to personally get to know or see some of the shelter dogs. It was possible to find out how the dogs have developed – including the friendly DJ. DJ is a friendly dog who hasn't had much to experience in his young life. He has been waiting far too long for someone to see him and give him the chance for a better life. He wishes for patient people with hearts who will finally show him the beautiful sides of life – love, security, and safety. Do you want to offer DJ the home he so desperately longs for? If DJ or his sisters touch your heart and you want to change the fate of these friendly dogs, we are very happy to receive your contact. We provide nationwide support.

28. About DJ

What life with DJ looks like

DJ is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting DJ, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about DJ?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw DJ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt DJ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is DJ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if DJ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know DJ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
