Django

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Django is - no sugar coating - a beautiful but also difficult dog. At around 6 years old, weighing 31 kg and standing 60 cm tall - a specific guest. He has a strong need for control and asserts it in a rather annoying way. This may stem from neglect by humans, or it’s not impossible that Django experienced abuse. He was found by the forest rangers tied to a tree, and it’s estimated he spent at least two days there. A miracle he didn’t end up as prey for the many wolves in the area. So, what can we expect from a dog’s psyche that was treated in such a manner by humans? Django despite these unpleasant experiences still enjoys human contact, but on his terms. Is something about you not sitting right? He will definitely communicate it. Are you okay, do you inspire trust? You can scratch his back. Django is a great dog for wise and conscious people. He is not suitable for a home with children or as a first dog. After months of working with Django, he finally started going on walks - and he absolutely loves them. This is the moment when we decided to slowly look for him a new and responsible home. But a real one, not one where he would be something that could be thrown back into the forest. He is secured in the forest in the village of Jaśliska.

Django to - bez owijania w bawełnę - pies piękny, ale i trudny. W wieku około 6 lat, wagowo 31 kg i 60 cm- konkretny gość. Możesz go drapać po tyłku. Polecamy Django do ŚWIADOMEJ ADOPCJI

About Django

What life with Django looks like

Django is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Django, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Django?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Django on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Django if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Django already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Django isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Django and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
