Adopt Django

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 7 years

Django, a German Shepherd mix x Kangal affectionately nicknamed "our little pony," was abandoned after being taken in for boarding. His owner, facing housing difficulties, had placed him in a social boarding facility, but unfortunately never followed up after the legal period ended. At first glance, Django may impress with his size and powerful voice. However, behind this build lies a particularly affectionate dog, very close to humans and even quite clingy. He enjoys presence and contact, and is generally very attached on a daily basis. On walks, Django is strong and can pull on the leash. However, in the absence of stimuli, he remains rather calm and composed. In his previous home, he reacted to a person on a scooter; therefore, some caution will be needed in such situations. Regarding interactions with other dogs, they will need to be tested directly at the shelter. He may be more selective with unneutered males. However, he is okay with cats, rabbits, and has already lived with young children. In terms of health, Django may have a heart murmur, but we still need to investigate further to confirm. However, Django knows how to be alone, is housebroken, and does not destroy things.

About Django

What life with Django looks like

Django is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Django, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Django?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Django on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Django if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Django already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Django isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Django and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
