Adopt Django

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

✅Ok dogs and cats He had a beginning of life absolutely terrible as soon as he was retrieved by his detention. He was completely cut off from any social, human, or animal connection. He was locked 24/7 in a closet, deprived of food and water, and regularly beaten several times a week. He was forced to wear a muzzle which, over time, deformed his jaw. When we retrieved him, Django weighed barely 6 kg, so much had his body suffered from malnutrition and abuse…😢 It was the neighbors who gave the alert, hearing the poor dog howl with each blow😢. Despite everything he has gone through, Django is today an adorable, affectionate dog in need of love. He now seeks safety, warmth, and patient humans who will allow him to regain confidence and happiness, and give him enough space 💛 Django is okay with dogs and cats and loves playing fetch 🏈. He is a dog who loves learning and responds very well to commands: sit, give (the toy), kennel, down (off the couch), give a paw, sit. He is a dog who will need a canine companion in his future family, as it greatly reassures him. However, a child-free family will be preferred because it can quickly stress him out. He is a small, very affectionate dog in need of contact with his human, who loves walks and will go anywhere he is taken, calm and attentive. With a little love and patience, Django will give all his tenderness to his future family ❤️ If you want to meet a loyal, playful, and cuddly companion, Django could well be the one who will make your heart beat 🐶 Thank you for filling out our form:. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. This animal is for adult-only homes.

About Django

What life with Django looks like

Django is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Association Thalya Protection in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Django, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Django?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Thalya Protection handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Django on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Django if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Thalya Protection will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Django already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Django isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Thalya Protection early rather than rehoming privately; they know Django and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
