over: 🍀 Other dogs: female dogs yes Other animals: cats yes Children: calm children yes Dog experience: dog experience preferred Problems: initially insecure, needs security and guidance Specials: Hello there out there. My past life was really a rollercoaster. As a puppy, people in Bulgaria wanted to pack me in a sack and drown me in the water, since then I have a fear of water. Then I came to Germany and got to grow up with a nice family here. Unfortunately, I was not treated well in Germany either, and the police rescued me. Now I'm here. Phew, and my head is just barely holding it together, I still need to process all of this. With my foster parents, I am open and relaxed, but I definitely have my own head and I stick to it (typical Husky, right). According to my former owners, I get along very well with children, but I want to first trust you and if you have me under control, we can talk about children. I have a harder time with men and I bristle at them, I mean, who wouldn't?! I find female dogs great, my chest swells and I turn into a little macho. Male dogs I find bothersome, I don't need them around. I have already lived with cats, we should test that here to see if your kitty likes me too. In my upbringing, we should really expand on walking on the leash. Do you believe we could grow into a great team and work on my upbringing? Then write a mail to us where you tell us about you and your qualifications.

About Dobby

What life with Dobby looks like

Dobby is a large adult husky dog waiting at Tierheim Stuttgart in Stuttgart.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Fear of water due to traumatic puppy experience, needs patient training especially for leash walking, requires trust-building period

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stuttgart handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stuttgart will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stuttgart early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
